Theme: Fool ( From proverb 1-14)
I always feel insulted whenever I go through these verses from the book of proverbs. For a long time, I stayed away from interpreting this knowledge to reflect my own folly, as I usually assume it was advice for medieval times. But today, looking back, I think I was denying myself the opportunity to see beyond my ignorance as I now understand that Solomon was referring to a particular set of people with a character flaw which exist then and now. I looked into myself and saw the need to tender my mind to these instructions, as I am also lacking prudence in character.
I have been able to capture some interpretation from these verses to reflect my need as a person or to equip me to choose to act wise regardless of what today's world says, want or desires.
Pro 1:7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline. (One who is beginning to be wise is he that see earth as God creation and in awe of who made such a puzzling planet. Fools despise any kind of wisdom of such or any)
Pro 1:22 “You naïve ones, how long will you love naiveté? And how long will scoffers delight in scoffing or fools hate knowledge?” (How long will you be bereft of knowledge of how life works, how long will you mock this wisdom that is around you and how long will you keep on hating those that desire to know more and be wise)
Pro 1:32 Indeed, the waywardness of the naïve will kill them, and the complacency of fools will destroy them. (Naïve one will one day lead themselves to their death because they refuse to turn away from that lifestyle sapping their energy and quietly leading them to death, while fools will be destroyed because they are joking around where they should be seriously vigilant. In other words, fools are uninformed self-satisfied)
Pro 3:35 The wise will inherit honor, but he holds fools up for ridicule. (Fools are at last shamed as a result of their wrong assumptions and holding tightly to it. Those who choose to investigate their own source of knowledge inherit honor at the end)
Pro 7:22 All of a sudden he follows her like an ox fit for slaughter or like a fool fit for a trap ( A trap fit for fools is that hang on a fools' neck to always talk and display their folly)
Pro 8:5 Understand prudence, you naïve people; and gain an understanding heart, you foolish ones. (Those who call themselves simple, learn what it means to have the ability to govern and discipline oneself by the use of reason. Foolish ones learn what it takes to take correction and change)
Pro 10:8 The wise person accepts commands, but the chattering fool will be brought down. (A wise person live in such a way that naturally they can accept command and discern which to follow, while the foolish keeps talking till they tie themselves with their empty talk)
Pro 10:10 Those who wink their eyes are trouble makers, and the mocking fool will be brought down. (it Is a matter of time before those who wants to trick others into their wickedness will be caught and brought down)
Pro 10:14 Those who are wise store up knowledge, but when the fool speaks, destruction is near. (Those who are wise focus on reading, listening and storing up knowledge while empty ones when they open their mouth all you hear is error and taboos)
Pro 10:18 Whoever conceals hatred is a deceitful liar, and whoever spreads slander is a fool. (When you have so much hate in your heart, your words and your look hardly align, while he that keeps slandering others is a fool)
Pro 10:21 What the righteous person says nourishes many, but fools die because they lack discerning hearts. (A righteous person does what is right, says what is right, and people love to listen to such a person. While a fool says rubbish as they can't differentiate the rightful thing to say)
Pro 10:23 Just as the fool considers wickedness his joy, so is wisdom to the discerning man. (When you are eager to learn, any form of Understanding things that baffles you before becomes a joy, while a fool joy comes from doing and saying things that are harmful even to him/her)
Pro 11:29 Whoever troubles his household will inherit the wind, and the fool will be a servant to the wise.
(He that like trouble will keep getting trouble, and those that choose knowledge will rule over those getting themselves into trouble)
Pro 12:15 The lifestyle of the fool is right in his own opinion, but wise is the man who listens to advice.(A fool believes so much in his tiny and deluded knowledge, while a wise person know that only consultation and constant learning from others will make them wiser)
Pro 12:16 The anger of a fool becomes readily apparent, but the prudent person overlooks an insult. (A fool is quickly tempered, while a wise person knows that insults is injury to oneself if we react to it)
Pro 12:23 A prudent man keeps what he knows to himself, but the hearts of fools shout forth their foolishness. (A sensible person keep what he knows to himself, but a foolish person is fast to show everyone how short on knowledge they are)
Pro 13:16 Every sensible person acts from knowledge, but a fool demonstrates folly. (Every thinking person knows it is good to act after getting the right fact, but a foolish person shows everyone they are daft)
Pro 13:19 Fulfilled longing is sweet to the soul, but avoiding evil is detestable to the fool. ( It is easy to know what is right to do by checking how long such desire burden you. BUT fools never search deep to find great desire to accomplish, instead they are stuck chasing pleasures from vices that usually upsets them)
Pro 13:20 Whoever keeps company with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools suffers harm. (Become wise by looking for wise friends to follow. But those who follows foolish people should beware of harm coming to them)
Pro 14:3 What a fool says brings a rod to his back, but the words of the wise protect them. (The fool punish themselves by what they say. Word of the wise keeps them safe)
Pro 14:7 Stay away from a foolish man, for you will not find competent advice. (Find something else or someone for advice. Leave the fool alone)
Pro 14:8 The wisdom of the prudent helps him know how to live, but a fool’s stupidity deceives him. (A fool stupidity fools his senses to think he is surviving well. As a prudent person, careful seeking for knowledge before doing a thing, teach them how to survive well)
Pro 14:9 Fools make fun of guilt, but among the upright there are good intentions. ( Fools makes fun when they should be in sympathy moods, but the upright have good intentions, and it shows in their interactions)
Pro 14:16 The wise person fears and turns away from evil, but a fool is reckless and overconfident. (A wise person sees dangers and use wisdom to maneuver it, while a fool become more reckless and act ignorantly confident)
Pro 14:17 A quick tempered person does foolish things, and a devious man is hated. (A person with quick temper usually ends regretting their action, while an insincere person is hated)
Pro 14:24 The crown of the wise is their wealth, but the stupidity of fools is just that—stupidity! (there is a prize for being wise, which is their wealth of knowledge. A fools gain nothing other than empty reasoning and talk)
Pro 14:33 Wisdom is at rest in the mind of the discerning— even fools know this. (A person who can discern has knowledge somewhere in them, even Fools can notice)
