Power of Character in Leadership, The: How Values, Morals, Ethics, and Principles Affect Leaders - Myles Munroe (Highlight: 38; Note: 0)

Power of Character in Leadership, The: How Values, Morals, Ethics, and Principles Affect Leaders - Myles Munroe (Highlight: 38; Note: 0) ─────────────── Character Matters “A man’s character is his fate.” —Heraclitus, Greek philosopher ▪ Too many leaders start strong but then fail or self-destruct because of defects in their moral compass. ▪ Yet I have concluded that the greatest obstacle to a leader’s success is a deficit of character. ▪ If I could teach a leader one thing that I believe would preserve his leadership, and even his very life, it would be the priority of character—internal values and principles that one is committed to and that manifest in one’s life as ethical conduct. ▪ Moral deficits frequently lead people to negative or ruinous consequences—such as missing out on promotions and advancements, being fired from their jobs, losing their life savings, betraying their families, surrendering their lifelong dreams, and going to prison ▪ Good character is like a personal secu...

Theme: Fool ( From proverb 1-14)

I always feel insulted whenever I go through these verses from the book of proverbs. For a long time, I stayed away from interpreting this knowledge to reflect my own folly, as I usually assume it was advice for medieval times. But today, looking back, I think I was denying myself the opportunity to see beyond my ignorance as I now understand that Solomon was referring to a particular set of people with a character flaw which exist then and now. I looked into myself and saw the need to tender my mind to these instructions, as I am also lacking prudence in character.  I have been able to capture some interpretation from these verses to reflect my need as a person or to equip me to choose to act wise regardless of what today's world says, want or desires.  Pro 1:7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline. (One who is beginning to be wise is he that see earth as God creation and in awe of who made such a puzzling planet. Foo...

Proverb 27 ( Friendship)

Theme :   Friendship (After my first post on this, I went through the whole verse to see if there is some good friendly advice in all of the verses)  1  Never brag about the day to come, because you don’t know what it might bring. ( Don't start bragging to your friends about tomorrow )  2  Let someone else praise you, not your mouth; a stranger, and never your own lips.( Allow your friends to do the praising  don't  praise  your Ego)  3  Rocks are heavy, and sand is weighty, but a fool’s provocation outweighs them both. ( You don't  want to keep foolish friends, they would wear you out)  4  Wrath can be fierce and anger overwhelms but who can stand up to jealousy? ( Jealousy cannot be defended, ignore jealousy)  5  An open rebuke is better than unspoken love. ( Tell your friend the real truth, don't try to hide it with fake love)  6  Wounds from someone who loves are trustworthy, but kisses from an ene...

Proverbs 25 with my summary

Proverbs 25 This chapter's theme borders on; Dealing and negotiating with others in their field and  Having a close relationship with others.   1  Here are some more proverbs by Solomon, which the men of Hezekiah, king of Judah, transcribed.  2  It is the glory of God to conceal a matter, and the glory of kings to investigate a matter. [ God hides things from men and that make Him powerful whereas men who are king in different occupation master their profession and  that makes them powerful]  3  Just as the heavens are high and earth is deep, so the heart of a king is unfathomable. [ Heaven and heart are far from each other and you can't find where they stooped. Same way with any man of power. You can't fathom what they can do with their power)  4  Purge the dross from the silver, and material for a vessel comes forth for the silversmith. [ Important things are usually not visible until you remove something from them to reveal them ...
