Proverb 27 ( Friendship)
Theme: Friendship (After my first post on this, I went through the whole verse to see if there is some good friendly advice in all of the verses)
Never brag about the day to come, because you don’t know what it might bring. ( Don't start bragging to your friends about tomorrow )
Let someone else praise you, not your mouth; a stranger, and never your own lips.( Allow your friends to do the praising don't praise your Ego)
Rocks are heavy, and sand is weighty, but a fool’s provocation outweighs them both. ( You don't want to keep foolish friends, they would wear you out)
Wrath can be fierce and anger overwhelms but who can stand up to jealousy? ( Jealousy cannot be defended, ignore jealousy)
An open rebuke is better than unspoken love. ( Tell your friend the real truth, don't try to hide it with fake love)
Wounds from someone who loves are trustworthy, but kisses from an enemy speak volumes. ( Friends that love you are tender even when they are fierce but then when jealous people start liking you. Be very cautious)
The full person spurns honey, but to a hungry person even the bitter seems sweet. ( Your likeness of things is a result of your needs. Check your need first before liking a thing)
Like a bird that strays from its nest is a man who wanders away from his home. ( you don't know who you would meet if you leave your comfort friends and zone)
Ointments and perfume encourage the heart; in a similar way, a friend’s advice is sweet to the soul. ( Give good advice to your friends and seek advice that will sweeten your hearth)
Never abandon your friend nor your father’s friend, and don’t go to your brother’s house in times of trouble. A neighbor who is near is better than a brother who lives far away. ( Be on good terms with neighbors and friends around you, that can be helpful on emergency days)
Be wise, my son, and make me happy, so I can reply to anyone who insults me. ( Behave well as your friends are put on spot to defend you at your back)
Those who are prudent see danger and take refuge, but the naïve continue on and suffer the consequences. ( A good friend helps you to see the danger ahead while a bad one will allow you to suffer it)
Take the coat of anyone who puts up security for a stranger; hold it in pledge if he cosigns for an immoral woman. ( Take your things from A friend who starts meeting loose people around them)
A friend’s loud blessing early in the morning will be thought of as a curse. ( Don't take praises from a friend before doing a job)
A continual dripping on a rainy day and a contentious wife are alike. ( Stay away from troublesome friends. Their trouble might never end)
Trying to keep her in check is like stopping a wind storm or grabbing oil with your right hand. ( There might be nothing you can do to fix them)
Iron sharpens iron; so a man sharpens a friend’s character.( We grow up or down due to the kind of company we keep)
Whoever nurtures the fig tree will eat its fruit, and whoever obeys his master will be honored.( Nurture those you can nurture and learn from those you can learn from. Both have good advantages)
Just as water reflects the face, so the heart reflects the person.(You can see your friends' hearts from their faces.
Sheol and Abaddon are never satiated, and neither are human eyes. ( You can't have enough looking for new friends every day)
As the crucible tests silver, and the furnace assays gold; so praise received tests a man. ( When you are praised among your friends that's the test of your ego]
Though you crush a fool in a mortar and pestle as someone might crush grain, his stupidity still won’t leave him. ( Some friends are so foolish that there is nothing you can do about them)
Keep well informed of the condition of your flocks and pay attention to your herds,( You need to check well the bits of Advice of your friends ]
because riches don’t endure forever, and crowns don’t last from one generation to the next. ( Because they might be jealous of you4 riches or they might be jealous of your position. Also, be careful as some friends don't stay together forever)
When the grass disappears, and new growth appears the mountain spices will be harvested,
the lambs will supply your clothing, and your goats the price of a field.
You will have enough goat’s milk to drink and to supply your household needs, as well as sustenance for your servant girls. ( Even though, you don't have friends, be sure that days and nights will come when things work for their good without needing any help)
